What have I learnt in this module?
I learned things of many design principles as well as successful ways for using them in my designs to better communicate a message and a story. In order to further grow, I have also learned to think critically and explore my concepts from many views.
What did I enjoy the most?
I like being able to express the concepts in my thoughts using a variety of graphic techniques during the design process. This is a brand-new experience. When the finished piece of art is displayed, the feeling of accomplishment and happiness is really pleasant. Also, when Dr. Jinchi appreciates my work, it really inspires me to present it with confidence.
What did I not enjoy the most?
Maybe having to finish the assignment by the deadline was what I didn't like the least. I don't waste, but I get really anxious as a deadline approaches and I am at a loss for inspiration or ideas. Because I think that if I'm stressed while designing, no good work will be done, I'm hoping to learn how to slow down. I will make an effort to adapt and improve as a designer, even though it will take some time.
What have I learnt about myself through this module?
I now see things differently and perceive myself differently. I'm really particular when it comes to design, mainly because I'm passionate about it, so I want to make it perfect or show the desired results. There are many times when I feel unable to explain my ideas well. I'm still working on accepting or enjoying my strengths and letting myself develop at a comfortable rate. Being completely overcome by delight while doing what I love is great.
What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
My work has gotten better, as have my talents. While viewing and appreciating various designs, there has been a change of viewpoint. I used to evaluate art by using my eyes to determine if it was excellent or poor, but I've since changed my mind and discovered the power of using my emotions to experience what the artist is attempting to convey.
What could be improved in this module?
One of my favourite semester-long modules, and the open-ended learning methodology allowed me to truly understand my potential. So, rather than enhancing its strengths, the module must maintain them. Many thanks to Dr. Jinchi for her continuous support and encouragement, which gave me the motivation to carry on.
