1. Briefing and Recap
A self portrait is a picture or image that you make which expresses the depth of personality. Artists and designers make self portraits as exercises in expression and character portrayal. Self portraits can tell a story (narrative). They can express a fantasy side to a person's alter ego. Exercise of self-exploration (how I see myself, what I'm feeling, and what I want to be seen by others)

INSTRUCTIONS
Timeframe 3 weeks
Deadline Week 4
Description Create a portrait of yourself by applying the various principles that you had learnt through these weeks. The self-portrait allows the student to investigate both historical and contemporary forms of self-expression and also to review the design principles covered and thus better inform their particular direction. They are also now free to use any media and to even consider working 3D or digitally. As with the first weeks of class, the classroom is a lab for interaction, experimentation and critique. Students explore a range of possibilities and are able to better determine an outcome through the critiques either individually with the teachers and/or with the class as a whole. They also are encouraged to look both critically and historically at the work of other designers and artists.
PROGRESS: On the week you are working on this project, discuss and show your progress to your lecturer during class.
Requirements Contemplate on your life experiences, which includes your culture, your family, your friends, your schooldays, your favourite hangouts, your favourite music, food, musicians, etc. Observe your surroundings – people, vehicles, buildings, plants, signages, nature, and activities. Select visuals that you find relevant and interesting to you, which you can translate into a design work to create a portrait of yourself in A4 sizeRemember to apply design principles in your work. FEEDBACK
Week 3: I didn't do any of the tasks that given by Dr. Yip because I celebrating Chinese New Year on that times. TT But thank you so much Dr. Yip for forgiving me and keep encouraging me.
Week 4:Sketch #7 as the final idea. Dr. Yip said sketch #7 is interesting and have a good exploration. BUT the only thing is the background is a bit confused and unclear so Dr. Yip recommend me to change the sun become smaller. Besides, Dr. Yip asked me try to brighter the background or change the grey color to yellow color because its not outstanding enough.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FINAL OUTCOME
I fixed all 4 ideas together in my final design. My final outcome is repetition, harmony and emphasis.
After getting the correction from Dr. Yip, I change the background to many lines of circles and some sky and also a guitar. I applied repetition to the repeating stars and the lines of circles. Besides, The guitar that I had added to show that I really like to play guitar. I used the outstanding color such as red, purple, yellow, orange to form a visual harmony in this artwork. After that, I emphasized myself by using the lighter color and the lighter circles and darker background.(emphasis)
2.5 Reflection
It was incredibly difficult for me to complete this job because I had never before drawn a human. I'm delighted I exerted the effort to force myself to draw a genuine likeness of myself as opposed to a cartoon. I'm also fairly pleased with it considering how much effort I put into making it look more realistic, but I think there is still a lot of space for development. Since I didn't have much confidence in my notions or my images, I also appreciate Dr. Yip's constructive criticism of my work very lot. That greatly fueled my motivation.
